Lip Balm Cozies for Breast Cancer~

I was so excited to come home to the beautiful glass buttons. I managed to get 17 of the lip balm cozies completed, 3 more to go. I am participating in the 60km Weekend To End Breast Cancer in June 2009 and made this to help with my fundraising. These cozies are $12 each with the proceeds going to the walk. They are crocheted with 100% mercerized cotton and come complete with a handmade, lampwork glass button.

The buttons were made specifically for the cozies by the most incredible glass artist Gillian Soskin. They totally make the cozy! Thank you Gillian for helping me with my vision of these little guys!

If you know me you can purchase one of these cuties directly from me. Just call or email me. Or if you'd like to support such a wonderful cause please visit my Etsy site to make a purchase online. You do have to register on the Etsy site in order to complete the transaction. You can do so here.

I also encourage you to check out Gillian's Etsy Site too. Gorgeous handmade lampwork beads and buttons (if you can beat me to them!)

Cozy Crazy

After having the discussion about making lip balm cozies to raise money for the weekend to end breast cancer I was in lip balm cozy mode. I made these yesterday. I have another one that's almost done, but I need to focus on hats today. I have to send some off to get photographed and I have a meeting on Tuesday that I have to bring some for!
One of my yarn orders arrived on Friday which had 2 new colours for the cozies. I took a trip yesterday and found myself picking up 2 additional new colours. More cozies to come eventually. I figured I'd try to get some more stocked before I start the ones for fundraising!

A cozy place for lip balm

I fired off a bunch of lip balm cozies recently. I get a bunch of requests for them. Here are some of my latest ones:

Hats and Cozies

I was asked to join in on an anniversary celebration for a shop that's been around for a year. She's having a rainbow theme and asked if I could create 3 hats. One yellow, one blue, one purple. Here's what I did. The yellow hat is the same design as the other flapper hats I do. The purple hat has a fancier scalloped edge and the delft blue hat is a visor beanie. Too cute.
I've also been making lip balm cozies again. I posted this pink tones one for the tubes and then had some requests for the tubes. I do make them, I just usually don't list them. But I've started to list them and they have been selling. Yay!

Spring Flowers

I recently completed a custom order for 50 flowers. She's going to make signature pins out of them!

I was also asked to make these two lip balm cozy key chains for tubes.

Big Cats & Stick Lip Balm Holder

I've had a lot of great response from the little cat & bunny slippers I've made. A few people had joked about the fun slippers in adult sizes, which I thought would be a great idea, finding the time to create them "just because" was a different story. Then the request came in and here is the end result! They're cute & fun! Since they're for adults I doubled the yarn to make them thicker and more durable.

This weekend I'm working on another pair of child's bunny slippers for another order. After that I have to get cracking on some sunhats. Another wonderful local crafter has graciously offered to put them at her table on a (somewhat) local craftshow that I'm not able to attend! Very exciting.

I've also had a few requests for the lip balm cozies for the stick lip balms. So here is the first one. Took a few attempts to figure it out, but I think this works well.

My Girl's Sunhat

I have been wanting to make my girl a sunhat for a long time, but I kept getting custom orders that would bump her hat. So I finally put her hat on the list as if it were an order. She loves it...and loves to wear it. I think that's all that matters:)

Here are a bunch of the lip balm cozies I've finished too. I can't believe I lived without mine for so long.

Lip Balm Cozy

I'm a lip balm addict. Specifically Carmex. Love my Carmex. Go crazy without my Carmex.

So I made these. I attempted to put a snap on the orange one but it didn't work out. I managed to get it on the top part, but not on the bottom. It's just too think (by mere millimeters I'm sure). Even with the manly strength of my husband I had now luck! hehe.

I've claimed the pink variegated one already and it is attached to my key chain and I love it! Never have to go searching for my lip balm again. I'm almost done another orange one. Just need to attach the button to it. I'm thinking of making a ton of these for my craft show in November. I think they'd make great stocking stuffer for about $6! I guess I'll make some regular lip stick ones too since a lot of people use them too.

(Sorry the 2nd picture is so fuzzy - my little guy kept pulling on me while I was trying to take it. But you get the idea!)
