There's a Lime in My Coconut

Lime green with taupe cozy. The button isn't attached to this one, it's just there for placement. And of course I still need to add the key ring:) But it gives you a good idea of what it'll look like. Colours may be slightly different due to variances in monitors, etc.

This is the 2nd version and I've also done a side by side comparison. In the 2nd one the brown is more chocolaty but the green isn't as lime. Again the buttons have not been sewn on and I still need to attach the keyrings.

Blues Sunhat

I did a couple more sunhats this weekend for custom orders. One was the natural with the pink stripe that I've already done. They've been purchased for sisters so I had to make a bigger one for the older sister.

And I finished this one too which will be going in the post today:

Little Artists in the Making

I normally don't post about my kids on this blog, unless they're modelling something for me. But I can't resist this one and it is somewhat related since it has to do with creative expression.

We were given some big pieces of bristol board so I decided to head outside yesterday with the kids, some paint and the bristol boards to have fun. The only rule - no brushes were to be used:) The kids had a blast and I think they're art turned out beautiful!

Sew Little Time

Awhile back I bought some really cute material to make my girl a dress for summer. She loves her dresses so I thought it would be fun to try to make one. I can sew ok. Not great enough to sell something - but I get by.

The pattern and material are still sitting in the bag. I did actually pre-wash the material. So really, everything is ready for me to get working on. I have to finish 2 pairs of slippers (cat & bunny) that need to go in the mail by Friday, my goal is Wednesday. And another sunhat to match one I've already made for some sisters. If I can get these done by Friday then my goal will be to at least cut out the pieces this weekend. Maybe even dust off the ole sewing machine.

Orange you glad I'm posting a PIF?

OK - so I'm tired. Stayed up late, my little man was up a few times and then decided 5:30am was a good time to start the day. Lack of sleep plays funny tricks on your mind - hence the poor attempt at a title.

Here is a picture of the orange & green sunhat I made. It's so bright - I love it.

And here's a PIF I'm going to be posting in my Etsy Store. A PIF means Pay it Forward. When I first joined etsy MoxieRings was kind enough to make me a banner as a PIF.

My PIF are 4 crocheted flowers. Made with a cotton/nylon blend (70/30). They are machine washable, but lay flat to dry. It's hard to tell in the picture but they have a little bit of shimmer to them too. The 3 on the bottom are slightly smaller then the one on top. These are great to use to complete a project, dress up a hat, flip flops, bag or purse. Or personally I think they'd make a great embellishment for some handmade cards!

Sunhat Mania

I've been busy making sunhats for the past week (I think?) Not bad I made 11, but have 10 to pass on for the table this weekend. One sold at my girls gymnastics class:) And it looks like I may be getting 2 more custom orders from there too. So here are pictures of most of the hats I've made. I'm missing the orange one with the lime green strip. I have a picture of it, just haven't downloaded it yet. These hats range in size from infant, toddler & child.

I Heart Custom Orders

They're my favorite thing to do! Something that I know someone wants or is interested in. Here's a hat I just finished for someone:

I've also been busy making children's sun hats. Paula from Uxcritter has graciously offered to have some of my hats on her table in Goodwood! I would have gotten my own table there, but Rob will be out of town that weekend. Here are some of the hats I have completed. I'v also made a blue one with pink & purple strips, I just don't have a picture yet!

Last, but not least. This is the hat the I made to donate to my friend for her JDRF walk. Her youngest daughter has juvenielle diabetes and she's been doing a great job raising money to help find a cure. The least I could do was make up a hat to send her to include in their auction!

Big Cats & Stick Lip Balm Holder

I've had a lot of great response from the little cat & bunny slippers I've made. A few people had joked about the fun slippers in adult sizes, which I thought would be a great idea, finding the time to create them "just because" was a different story. Then the request came in and here is the end result! They're cute & fun! Since they're for adults I doubled the yarn to make them thicker and more durable.

This weekend I'm working on another pair of child's bunny slippers for another order. After that I have to get cracking on some sunhats. Another wonderful local crafter has graciously offered to put them at her table on a (somewhat) local craftshow that I'm not able to attend! Very exciting.

I've also had a few requests for the lip balm cozies for the stick lip balms. So here is the first one. Took a few attempts to figure it out, but I think this works well.
